BACKSTORY NAWFSIDE BUGGOUTS
BACKSTORY- The NawfSide Buggouts started with a group of kids from queens who grew up around the same blocks, same streets and a lot of problems. None of them really came from much or had a lot. Their parents worked long hours and picked up extra shifts just to keep the lights on and make sure the kids had somewhere to lay their head.When they were younger, they didn't think too much about the future. They would be outside playing basketball or riding bikes or going to somebody crib or just hanging around the block with nothing else to do. They didn't have a lot of money, but they made the most out of what they had.
One person who was always around was Arty. From the beginning, Arty was the one people always listened to. He wasn't the most energetic person in the room or someone who had to prove himself all the time but he was just somebody who knew everybody and kept the group together and made sure nobody got left behind.
Right beside him was his closest friend, Ace.
Ace wasn't just another member to Arty. They grew up together and were closer than brothers. If Arty was out Ace usually wasn't far behind. They had been through the same struggles knew each other's families, and had been there for each other long before the name NawfSide Buggouts was ever made.
The two of them would always talk about the same thing.
"One day we gonna get out the North."
At first it was something they said while walking around the neighborhood. But when they got older that dream became more serious.
People they grew up with started getting booked. Some disappeared from the neighborhood completely and others didn't make it to see adulthood. Every time something happened Arty and Ace saw it up close. It made them realize how quickly things could change.
Instead of letting the group fall apart Arty started bringing everybody closer.
If somebody was struggling they would help. If somebody needed somewhere to go they had somewhere to stay. If there was an argument between members Arty was usually the one trying to settle it before it became anything bigger. Ace was always there beside him backing him up and making sure the group stayed together no matter what.
Over time people around the neighborhood started recognizing them.
That's when "NawfSide Buggouts" became more than just a name.
It became a group of people who had known each other for years and didn't want to forget where they came from.
Arty eventually became the person everyone looked to when something needed to be done. He wasn't just the leader because someone gave him a title. He earned that role by being there from the beginning and putting the group before himself.
Ace became his right hand and the person Arty trusted the most. If Arty made a decision Ace was always the first person he talked to. They didn't always agree on things but they always had each other's backs.
As they got older the things they wanted changed too. They wanted money, better lives and a way to help their families. The kids who used to sit around talking about getting out of the gang life were now trying to actually make something of themselves.
Some wanted to leave Queens behind one day. Others wanted to make enough money to stay and take care of the people who raised them.
but no matter where they ended up they knew one thing.
They came from the same place.
They remembered the basketball courts the late nights outside the apartments they grew up in and the people they lost. But also all the times they had to figure things out on their own.
For Arty and Ace NawfSide Buggouts was never supposed to be about pretending to be something they weren't. It was about the people who were there before the name, and before anybody knew who they were

They started out as nothing but a few friends, a basketball and a dream of making it out.
Now they're trying to turn that dream into something real.
